Greymouth Petroleum is one of the few New Zealand owned and operated oil and gas production and exploration companies. The company was founded in July 2000. Directors are Mark Dunphy (C.E.O.), P.H. Masfen (Non Exec) and John Sturgess (C.O.O.). In New Zealand, Greymouth (and its operating company affiliates, Bridge Petroleum and Petrochem) engages in the production, development, and exploration for oil and gas reserves. In New Zealand, Greymouth operates the Moturoa, Kaimiro, Ngatoro, Goldie, Windsor, Surrey, Radnor, Turangi and Kowhai oil, gas and condensate fields located on the onshore Taranaki peninsular. Greymouth holds a significant suite of oil and gas development and exploration properties both in New Zealand (in the Taranaki and Great South Basins) and in Chile (in the Magallanes Basin, where properties are held by Greymouth’s affiliated PetroMagallanes companies). Greymouth's operations base is the former Petroleum Corporation of New Zealand (Petrocorp) facility and store situated at the Bell Block, near New Plymouth. Greymouth maintains a comprehensive inventory of oil field spares, casing, tubulars and drilling mud at the Bell Block store and associated pipeyard. Through its Bonus Drilling affiliate, Greymouth provides land rig drilling services. Through its GMP Environmental affiliate, Greymouth provides industrial waste clean-up and disposal, water blasting, steam cleaning, heavy lifting and transportation services. In November, 2005 Greymouth (through its Greymouth Power affiliate) made foundation investments in flexible thermal power generating facilities and gas delivery assets to enable the supply of combined heat and power solutions to backbone industrial NZ gas and energy users. Through its Greymouth Gas affiliate, Greymouth supplies gas to thermal power, petrochemical, industrial and commercial customers.
